13 Principles of Wiccan Belief

Eclectic Wicca is a group or solitary may use a blend of beliefs and practices from several different pantheons and traditions. A group could be an offshoot of an established tradition of Wicca, such as Gardnerian or Alexandrian, but with modifications to their practice that make them no longer that original tradition.

Who or what is the Order of Eternal Light (OEL)

The Order of Eternal Light is an Eclectic white magic coven.  We base good and bad based on the intent of the ritual and/or spell.  It is my desire to see this coven grow to assist the community in which it resides. Our goals are to  teach those who are interested in spiritually and Wicca, heal the sick, protect the innocent, assist others in need, and to help our greater community grow and flourish. The world can be a confusing and dark place but we all have a mission in life.  We believe our mission varies from person to person but one thing does remain the same and that is to live and let live.

We do declare ourselves as a religion. It is also our desire that this coven will have no maximum capacity on how many people we will accept into this coven unlike many covens. We are all in the Web of Life together, so we might as well learn what we can while we are here to make everyone's lives better.

This is a simple statement which hopefully no one can confuse:

1) To help all others in need, if able such as Spiritual Guidance Counseling, Teaching of the Wiccan way, Individual learning opportunity’s, Mental and Physical Health recommendations for assistance

2) To affect the world in a positive way in such a way that it will be noticed globally

3) To have a coven which consist of members who only use the white arts. (We base good and bad based on intent. If your intent is bad/evil, hurts another human being or animal or take anyway from someone else so that you may have something or infringes on free will then is considered “Black Magick”. “White Magick” is the intent to help or heal another person, animal or does not harm any living thing. “An harm none, do what ye will.”),

4) To not charge money other than fundraising for the OEL or charitable causes as a group or acts of kindness, divination (such as tarot cards, palm readings, rune readings, etc.), casting out spirits, and other magical services which does not involve actually selling products. It is acceptable to sell merchandise and magical tools. (It is ok to accept tips) It is acceptable, if you’re a Reiki Healer, to charge for private sessions and/or classes,

5) For this group to be a true family

What is Wicca? Wicca is a New Age religion that was founded by Gerald Gardener in 1954 and claims to have it's rooted deeply embedded in the English history. This claim traces the word "wicca", which means "wise one", back to it's early Irish word of "witta" which also means "wise one". From this point one can delve deeply in the Wiccan roots and many agree that it has it's ties to Druidism. Many will argue this point but I believe that Wicca has it's roots in Druidism and thus this is how I teach. Wicca has a code of ethics which we follow known as the "Wiccan Reed", "The Wiccan Creed" and "The 13 Principles of Wiccan Belief". The most famous saying of these is the Wicca Reed's "An harm none do what ye will". This is our ultimate law. There are many forms of Wicca that can be studied but I teach more of an eccentric style of Wicca, also known as "Eccentric Wicca". So what is Eccentric Wicca? Eccentric Wiccans borrow bits and pieces of other mythologies and cultures such as Egyptian, Mayan, Nordic, etc. Before I continue I would like to share some quotes that I believe have a lot of tangible truth.

"True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us." --Socrates

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be attained only by someone who is detached” -- Simone Well

“The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance.” --Socrates

Imagination and fiction make up more than three-quarters of our real life” --Simone Well

“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” --Socrates

Dedicate yourself to the good you deserve and desire for yourself. Give yourself peace of mind. You deserve to be happy. You deserve delight.” -- Hannah Arendt

Socrates also talked about truth. He said that truth is represented by the lowercase "t" and that no one person or source may have the Absolute Truth, represented by the uppercase "T". He says that in our lives we are surrounded by all the "t" but if put all the little truths together we may discover the Absolute Truth. Well, the only way to do this is to be ecliptic and take what we believe to be the truth from all the lowercase "t" out there and construct the "T". So, here are a few questions I'd like to quickly answer:

1) Do Wiccans believe in god? Yes, Wiccans believe in god but "may" also believe in many different gods. This belief in more than one god is known as polytheism. The practice of polytheism, or multiple gods, goes under the classification of paganism. However, if you go by the Druid practice which claims all gods are one god then you start to see a little bit of monotheism here except we also believe in a goddess. Here's how I like to cut down the confusion. Imagination, if you will, two perfect diamonds. One diamond presents God and the other represents the Goddess. When cut, each diamond has many faces/facets. Each of these faces/facets is a representation of God or Goddess as depicted by the many different pantheons of other pagan religions. Each culture viewed God and Goddess in a different way and thus this gave the God and Goddess many different sides just like any human being. In Wicca, God is known as The Lord and the Goddess is known as The Lady. From here you may know The Lord and The Lady by different names depending on which view best meets your needs and wants. This eclectic view allows Wiccan and Pagans to worship together as one and come together into groups. We are not concerned with the idea of who's god is better but instead we are still working with a one infinite source. The Lord is represented by the Sun and The Lady is represented by the moon. Like such, The Lord is perceived as masculine and The Lady is perceived as feminine. The Lord is presented by positive energy known as Yang and The Lady is presented by the negative energy known as Yin. This is not to say that The Lord is good and The Lady is bad. Neither the day nor the night is either good or bad. This is just to say they are polar opposites that maintain a constant harmonization balance. Take an atom for instance. It is made of electron, protons and neutrons. Protons are positive energy and electrons are negative energy but both are needed to create the physical universe. You can't have one without the other. That being said proves that you can not have a god without a goddess or vise versa.

2) Do WIccans believe in "The Devil"? No. The Devil is a Christian deity not a Wiccan one. We do not believe in an "ultimate evil" and the closest thing to hell is our physical existence.

3) Do Wiccans believe in life after death? For the most part yes. Most Wiccans believe in reincarnation which means when you die you are reborn. I would like to elaborate on this a bit. When a person dies I do not believe we just instantly pop back out and say "BOO, I'm back". The entire point of living is to share our individual experiences with The Lord and The Lady so that through us they can experience themselves and the universe. This is our point of existence and the answer to the question of life. Our souls go through a process of birth, death and rebirth. First our souls go to the "Hall of Records" and decide what kind of life do we want to experience, who is to be your father and mother, who is your soulmate, what are your strengths and weaknesses, etc. Second, we are born and experience the life we choose and when we die we share that with The Lord and Lady. This is why you hear many people with near death experiences recalling their life when they die and say "my life flashed before my eyes". You may be saying, "HOLD UP, WAIT. You mean to tell me that all the bad things in my life I planned?" Not exactly. See, you plan out your life and everything that happens here is just an experience. You didn't plan you were going to break you ankle at the age of eight in the "Hall of Records" you simply choose things like: Rich or poor, healthy or unhealthy, male or female, straight or gay, tall or short, etc. Souls have a tendency to travel in "families". So in this life your mother might have been your son in a previous life. This is why when you meet someone for the first time and you feel like you've known them forever but can't explain why. They may be apart of your "soul family" or at least someone you knew in a past life. The point of coming down here is to learn and grow spiritually. We all make mistakes and do things we wished we hadn't but that's all part of life and the experience of the soul to grow. Have you even met a small child that seemed wise beyond their years? That is what we call an old soul. A soul that has lived many different lives before.

"So why can't I remember all my past lives?" Lets think about this for a second. If you were able to recall your past lives then what would be the point of coming back? Your conscious and that gut feeling you get when something is about to happen is your soul's experience urging you to do or not do something. Secondly, who wants the memories of all your deaths, heartbreak, trials, errors, etc. If you want a recipe for severe depression, that's a good way to get it. There are "ways" to remembering your past lives but it can come a cost that you may not wish to pay for. Hopefully this information has helped answer at least a few of your questions. If you think Wicca is for you and you would like a formal introduction into Wicca then please see our membership area. Until then, merry part and blessed be!
