Beltane, also known as May Day, is an ancient holiday. People would dance around May Poles during the day to celebrate fertility and at night light huge bale fires to signal the welcoming of summer.  Many would jump over the flames to show and signal a new rebirth.  It was also ancient tradition that the common people would frolic in the woods in dance and sing in full skyclad.
